Gangnam Parodies, Round 3

Hats off to the ubermom who created “Buster Gangnam Style” — the best of the movie-themed Gangnam mashups appearing on YouTube. She assembled these clips from more than 20 Buster Keaton pictures.  The timing throughout is impeccable, but the horse stable, elevator, carousel and romantic interlude scenes are, not just uncanny, they are…priceless.

“Gangnam Style” gets the old-school video game treatment in Dane Boedigheimer’s “8-bit Gangnam Style.” Boedigheimer is better known as the creator of the Annoying Orange cartoons.

“Gunman Style,” a parody influenced by Sergio Leone’s spaghetti Westerns, although containing more than enough silliness to satisfy fans of Psy.

Libertarian Walking Dead

We’ve given Libertarian Presidential hopeful Gary Johnson a few shameless plugs on this website, but after this shameful zombie commercial and his recent joint appearance with 9-11 conspiracy crackpot Jesse “The Body” Ventura, we’re running for the hills. Being Libertarian implies liberties might be taken, but this commercial earns the booby prize as the most amateurish political message this election season. With thousands of videos posted daily on YouTube, this is the best the Libertarians could muster? Doesn’t bode well for taking the party seriously.

CNN’s Crush on Ahmadinejad

CNN’s Piers Morgan fawns over Iranian despot Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, giving MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Martin Bashir a run for their money on who could claim the title as the week’s most insipid media lapdog. Stephen Kruiser sizes up this stiff competition in the latest edition of Kruiser Control. H/T PJTV

Don’t Try This At Home

Unless you want to possibly visit an emergency room, don’t try the cinnamon challenge at home. What’s the cinnamon challenge?  You have to take one tablespoon of cinnamon and swallow it within one minute without the aid of water. Hank Green from the SciShow explains why the challenge is practically impossible, and also wonders why anyone would incur the risk — when there are already some 30,000 cinnamon challenge videos on YouTube that you can safely watch without presenting a hazard to your own health.

Racism Wears a Teddy

See the Victoria’s Secret lingerie that some critics have tainted with the brush of racism. Hear why Michelle Obama wants to starve children and be shocked as Chris Matthews displays his ignorance of both math and current events. It’s all on parade in Stephen Green’s Week in Blogs. H/T PJTV

A Farewell to Fallen Soldiers

In New Zealand, the Army has embraced the Maori custom of “haka,” a powerful and public display of emotions on behalf of fallen comrades. Here, the soldiers of the 2/1 RNZIR Battalion perform their haka — a mix of chants and body thrusts — to greet the deceased as they enter the unit’s parade ground for the very last time. The ceremony was for Corporal Luke Tamatea, 31, Private Richard Harris, 21, and Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker, 26, medic, all killed in action by an IED in Afghanistan. Baker was the first New Zealand woman lost in the war. H/T small dead animals
