DNA testing has confirmed. Skeletal remains found buried under a parking lot in Leicester are those of Richard III, who was killed fighting the army of Henry Tudor, his successor, at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.

Richard, the last of the Plantagenet kings of England, is mostly remembered today through the villainous portrayal of his rule in titular work by William Shakespeare. But Shakespeare had it wrong when he wrote, “In thy foul throat thou liest,” when in fact, Richard III liest under a Volvo.
