After coming out with fire in their eyes, condeming Syria over its use of chemical weapons and all but calling for instant retaliation, Secretary of State John Kerry, President Obama and at least one of the United States’ strongest allies have muted their drumbeat. With a strong presumption of bombing Syria soon, the Obama administration now says no decision has been made, Britain has had a change of heart and the American public wants no part of an attack.
