The Speed of Light
The speed of light is a special but complex concept in science. Astronomer and research scientist Michelle Thaller tells us that nothing with any mass can travel at the speed of light, because as it gets close to that speed its mass increases. In addition, Thaller says, “As you go faster and faster and closer to the speed of light, time itself begins to slow down and space begins to contract. Light does not experience space or time.” Thaller elaborates on this mind-blowing phenomenon in this edition of Big Think.
