The film starred Chalton Heston and Edward G. Robinson, and was directed by Richard Fleischer, who also made Fantastic Voyage and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The plot concerned human cannibalism, the meat compacted into a blue-green algae-like food stuffing called soylent green.
