What You Have, You Hold

Here, we learn the importance of physical media. Do not rely on the Internet, the cloud or streaming services to download or preserve content you deem of value. The fact is, everything coming from these services can be compromised. The content can be altered, or suspended, or censored, or otherwise made unavailable.

If you treasure a book, a movie, or a song, it’s best to keep a copy  that you own. A copy that is not tied to the Internet, so it cannot be modified, or terminated, or otherwise cut to pieces or censored.  Dave Cullen explains more on Computing Forever.

  1. This is really great advice. Better to have a book in hand than a computer file in the cloud. Physical gold or silver is better than fiat currency.

    Food for thought: in 48 BC, the Romans under Julius Caesar accidentally burned down the library in Alexandria, Egypt. What precious scrolls of ancient knowledge were lost in that great fire? Protect your intellectual property!
