Controversy Collars Jay Z
Jay Z’s recent appearance at a Brooklyn Nets NBA game stirred the racial and political leaves, and it didn’t even involve the rapper’s distasteful lyrics. Turns out Jay Z was draped with a 5 Percent Nation Medallion, drawing the ire of Fox News “Hannity” host Sean Hannity. The New York Post summed up what the medallion represents: “Black people are the fathers and mothers of civilization, white men are the devil, the Christian God is nothing more than a ghost and only a small percentage of people understand the world.” So does this notion of black superiority, like the KKK’s belief in white supremacy, make Jay Z a racist?
