Cheese Burglar
Tonight we bring you a vintage cartoon — a 1946 short starring Herman the mouse. A few years later, Herman would be paired with Katnip the cat as Paramount Pictures’ clones to MGM’s Tom and Jerry. But here, we see Herman on a solo quest to stave off his hunger and score some cheese. To succeed, he’ll need to maneuver around a dog and a cat that are guarding the refrigerator. Herman decides his best approach is a strong offense, and sets out to ignite a feud between the cat and dog. All around, Paramount’s cartoons paled alongside its competitors, but this is one of the studio’s more clever and creative efforts.
