Jasper in a Jam

A young boy trapped inside a pawnshop at night gets a fright when the musical instruments spring to life. This 1946 short is one of the more animated cartoons from George Pal’s Puppetoons series, featuring hot jazz from Peggy Lee and the Charlie Barnet Orchestra. Too bad it’s rarely shown nowadays as folks walk around on eggshells trying to be politically correct. Some of the racial stereotyping is indeed silly and dated, but it’s a product of its era and shouldn’t be judged through the prism of today’s more rigid standards.
