Earning Our Own Success
Ask most liberal professors, of which there are many in our institutions of higher learning, and they’ll tell you that free enterprise is selfish and greedy. Their premise is that free enterprise benefits us materially but the cost in not worth it. Social scientist Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, disagrees. “Free enterprise is not just materially fulfilling. It’s a moral imperative,” he says. “One big reason is that free enterprise enables us to become truly happy.
