Have you ever heard of a Chinese click farm? It’s how social media outlets like Facebook defraud advertisers. See, a lot of so-called Facebook users are not actual individuals, just phantom clicks generated by farms such as this one. PlainSite, an independent research shop led by Aaron Greenspan, issued a 70-page report last week, saying Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been regularly lying to investors and the public about the company’s user metrics, and that the company could be overestimating the number of users by as much as 50%.
