Frozen in Time
There’s more going on in Siberia than you think. In 2007, receding ice in the Kolyma River revealed another prehistoric specimen in the woolly rhinoceros, ancestor to today’s Javan rhino. The combination of its weight combined with short legs pushed the rhino deeper into snowdrifts and into lakes and rivers, leading to its ultimate extinction.
