The Uncommon $2 Bill
The $2 bill was first introduced in 1862, undergoing many design changes over the years, but never really catching on in our culture. It was looked at as more of a novelty or collector’s item, forcing the government to discontinue printing of the note in 1966. Fast forward 10 years and the bill reappeared with a new design in time to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial, but the public response was the same. So why has the $2 bill become so uncommon in our culture? Two Dollar Bill Documentary explores the bill’s evolution and what really happened in 1976.
