The Coastline Paradox
Every number you see online or in a book regarding the length of any coastline is just a guess or an estimation. Take the United States coastline. Several organizations measured the length of the U.S. coastline, among them the Congressional Research Institute, the CIA and NOAA, and each came up different results.
