The War on Work
President Lyndon Johnson famously declared a war on poverty in the mid-’60s, but half a century later, the poverty rate remains virtually the same. Today, federal, state and local governments spend nearly $1 trillion combating poverty, benefits so generous they are discouraging people from working.
