Pan-Am’s Ghost Plane
This is the tale of Pan American Flight 914, a DC 4 McDonnell Douglas, that took off from New York City on July 2, 1955, with 57 passengers enroute to Miami and vanished into the Eastern Seaboard sky. Thirty-seven years later, in 1992, a Pan-Am 914, DC 4 landed in Caracas, Venezuela, believing they were still in 1955! When an air traffic controller advised the pilot that it was May 21, 1992, he was stunned, re-engaged the engines and flew away, never to be seen again. Airport officials later discovered a pocket calendar on the runway after the plane took off and it was from … 1955! Was this an urban legend that survived four decades or proof of time travel? Watch Bright Side’s presentation and you be the judge.
