The Prison of Your Mind
Author and motivational speaker Sean Stephenson, disabled by a genetic disorder at birth, delivers an eye-opening speech for Tedx Talks about self-esteem and empowerment, emphasizing that negativity and self-pity can only work against you. “I’m going to teach you what the real prison is,” Stephenson says. “It’s not surrounded by barbed wire and electrical fences. Real prisons don’t have guards. The real prison is your mind–a mind that shatters and so often doesn’t stop shattering.” Update: Stephenson, 40, died tragically in late August after suffering a traumatic head injury.
