The Evolution of Alcohol

The earliest known evidence of when humans began creating fermented beverages came in 7,000 BCE China, where residue in clay pots revealed that people were making alcoholic drinks from fermented rice, millet, grapes and honey. Alcohol advanced from simply giving animals a buzz to fueling global trade and exploration with all its consequences. And as time went on, its role in human society would only get more complicated.
