FBI Agent Is Russian Spy?
Did the FBI sacrifice a retired dirty agent arrested for bribery to appear non-partisan? The former agent, Charles McGonigal, headed the FBI’s CounterIntelligence Division in New York City, prior to his retirement in 2018. Significantly, he spearheaded the FBI’s Russia probe, looking into former President Donald Trump’s dealings with the Eastern regime.
Now, McGonigal stands charged with violating U.S. sanctions by agreeing to provide services to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian oligarch. McGonigal was arrested Saturday and the charges unsealed on Monday. Also arrested was Sergey Shestakov, a former Soviet and Russian diplomat who later became a U.S. citizen and a Russian interpreter for courts and government offices.
Here, JustInformed Talk wonders what’s the motivation behind these charges being filed at this time. Is the FBI seriously engaging in some cleanup, or just performing a little window dressing? Just how dirty is the agency as a whole?
