Cowpoke
I’m lonesome, but happy
Rich, but I’m broke
And the good Lord knows the reason
I’m just a cowpoke
From Cheyenne to Douglas
The ranges I know
‘Cause I drift with the wind
No one cares where I go
Buddy Mac sings “Cowpoke,” first popularized by Stan Jones and The Ranger Chorus. Jones is probably best recalled as the songwriter of “Ghost Riders In The Sky,” although this ballad has always shown a lot of staying power as well.
