The True Scale of Megalodon
The most terrifying sea creature still around today is the inimitable Great White shark. Notable for its size, it can grow to lengths of 20 feet and 4,200 pounds at maturity. But no matter how fearsome, the Great White pales in comparison to Megalodon, its ancestor of more than 2 million years ago.
Megalodon had similar features of the Great White, but grew to spooky lengths of 59 feet and weighed, on average, about 60 tons. Real Life Lore takes a closer look at this sea monster and introduces us to the Livivatan, a giant sperm whale that roamed the oceans at the same time.
