Another Obamacare Firestorm

There’s a new firestorm brewing in the Obama Administration, and it’s not surprising that the monstrosity that is Obamacare is at center stage again. Original Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber, an economics professor at MIT, is on the hot seat for some unfortunate comments he made about the passage of the Affordable Care Act in October 2013, calling American voters stupid among them. Gruber admits to the administration taking some artistic license in crafting the bill to squeeze it through Congress. “This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure the CBO did not score the mandate as taxes,” Gruber told a health care conference at the University of Pennsylania a year ago. “Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter, that was really critical to getting the thing to pass.” MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow grills Gruber over his comments in this edition of Truth Revolt.

A Matter Of Semantics

Doing some clever backtracking on MSNBC earlier this month, Obamacare and Romneycare architect Jonathan Gruber claims the section of the Affordable Care Act that says healthcare subsidies are limited to states with exchanges only is a typo. Calling the statement a blatant lie, LibertyPen dug up a video from January 2012 in which Gruber outlines a totally different explanation on subsidies available in state exchanges. Judge for yourself.
