What the Censors Missed
Censors missed a revealing peek at Jane’s “forbidden zone” in the original 1934 film Tarzan & His Mate, starring Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O’Sullivan. There was also a celebrated, deep-diving, nude swim in the picture, but that wasn’t O’Sullivan cavorting with Weissmuller, but rather her stunt double — the Olympic swimming champion Josephine McKim.
