Judge Denies Baldwin Motion

The trial of Alec Baldwin on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the 2021 shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins will go forward after New Mexico District Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer denied the actor’s request to dismiss the case.

The ruling comes a week after a heated court hearing in which Baldwin’s attorneys argued that special prosecutors failed to present evidence to the grand jury that was favorable to the actor. Here’s more from NBC News.

Baldwin Could Still Be Charged

Fox News reports that manslaughter charges are back on the table for Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting on the set of the Rust film last year, south of Santa, Fe, N.M.

Martha MacCallum reports that a new expert forensic analysis determined the trigger had to be pulled for the prop Colt 45 revolver to be discharged. Prosecutors dropped involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin in April, citing the need for more investigation and forensic analysis.  Baldwin has adamantly denied pulling the trigger in the incident that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Martha MacCallum is joined by weapons safety expert Steve Wolfe to dissect the new report.
