Lillian Boyer, the famous American wingwalker, performs aerial stunts in this rare footage shot in the 1920s by Pathe Baby Film. A waitress, Boyer began her death-defying career in 1921 and had appeared in more than 350 shows by 1929, when federal regulations on low flying and unsafe planes forced her and other so-called “barnstormers” into retirement.

After toiling for five years serving coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches on film sets in Canada, Derek Barnes decided he needed to redefine himself, and so he undertook the rigors of training for a new assignment as a stunt double. “Half a year of training-my-ass-off later, I was ready to begin. Rather than waiting to land enough professional gigs to fill my demo reel, I decided to be proactive. With the help of some great friends, I put this video together to showcase my new skills and hopefully entertain a few people. ”
