Call Me Stormy

Finding righteous currents in turbulent times

Sock it to Me, Sock it to Me!

The  ’60s were a microcosm of political tension, civil unrest and, of course, the unforgettable hippie counter-culture. So it was with a sigh of relief that many Americans took respite from the tumultuous times in the cackle and folly of “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.” The innovative television comedy hour, which debuted in the late ’60s, featured such rising stars as Goldie Hawn, Arte Johnson, Ruth Buzzi, Judy Carne, Richard Dawson, Henry Gibson and, of course, the show’s electric hosts, Dan Rowan and Dick Martin. Please enjoy this clip from the program’s 25th-anniversary celebration, and rejoin LOL next Tuesday for another journey on the lighter side of life. —  The Wickel.
