Chameleons: Home Alone

Once she’s created a burrow for her eggs, the female flapneck chameleon of Africa hits the road again, never to return. The eggs take a full year to hatch, but the baby chameleons can fend for themselves, without any training, from the moment they are born. H/T National Geographic
