L’Infernal Contorsionniste
Here’s a rarity — a 9.5 mm film made in France during the silent era and tinted red to reflect the subject in the spotlight, a contortionist from the Lower Depths, showing off his elastic moves. Many 35 mm movies were tinted in that era, but the process was seldom used with smaller gauge films. The archives, Unknown Cinema, unearthed this gem.
