Call Me Stormy

Finding righteous currents in turbulent times

Momoiro Clover Z

This Japanese girl group rose to fame singing Pokemon tunes and dressing in “sentai” superhero costumes, each singer donning a different color to form a multicolored ensemble. The video for their new single “Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimitachi yo”  alludes to this past with its visuals of five colored pots from which the girls hatch. But they do appear to be growing up now, wearing more macabre finery including the beehive wigs that seemingly could have come from the prop department of a Tim Burton movie. Whatever, the new single shot to the top of the Japanese pop charts, and Momoiro Clover Z recently performed in concert in Tokyo before more than 75,000 screaming fans.
