Perceived as an outsider in 1861, Abraham Lincoln shocked the nation by unexpectedly winning the presidency for the Republican Party and the Democrats went absolutely berserk. Fast forward 155 years to the 2016 election and another outsider, Donald J. Trump, stunned the world by winning the White House. And, yes, the Democrats were beside themselves. And nearly three years later, they’re still nuts.
The two elections are eerily similar and begs the question: What gives the Democrat Party the license to trump an electoral election in a Democratic Society?
