The Real First President
American textbooks taught us that George Washington was the first president of the United States, but they fail to mention an important detail. Washington, of course, was our nation’s first president under the U.S. Constitution.

During this period, eight presidents served our fledgling country ahead of Washington, beginning with John Hanson of Maryland. Simon Whistler unravels the details and tells us about the real first president of the United States on Today I Found Out.
