Historic Places Lost to Time

It’s fact that our ancient timeline is flawed. The modern world is much older than history teaches us. When looking at some of the most amazing scientific discoveries recently, it’s evident that the traditional chronological approach to age dating–with regard to our ancient history–should be revisited. Once thriving and highly developed cities around the planet lost to our developed consciousness have been rediscovered in recent years. Since ravaged by war and natural disasters, these marvels have come to enlighten us, leaving us to question not only their timeline, but also the stories and history behind them. Host Simon Whistler features 10 such historic places in this episode of Top Tenz.

Infamous Crimes Never Solved

Throughout history, there were a number of murder cases that shocked, repulsed and thrilled the public, but they had one unfortunate thing in common–they were never solved. Top Tenz host Simon Whistler details eight such murders, including the especially sinister Texarkana Moonlight Murders, along the Texas-Arkansas border in the mid-1940s. Dubbed a serial killer at the time, the alleged suspect preyed on young couples in secluded areas over two decades. He shot all of his victims, but amazingly some survived. The case was eerily compared to northern California’s Zodiac killer, but despite having a solid suspect, police could never tie him to the murders.

Myths That Still Fascinate Us

We all have the inner yearning for questions that baffle us. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? And there are plenty of myths still circulating that pretend to answer these for us. Top Tenz host Simon Whistler explores many of the myths that still fascinate us, such as curses, supernatural beings, aliens and The Great Flood.

Bygone Political Sex Scandals

Contrary to popular opinion, political sex scandals are not exclusive to our nation’s capital. In fact, the world of sex and politics have intertwined since the beginning of time. In this episode of Top Tenz, host Simon Whistler takes a look at eight political stories wrought with intrigue, action, scandal and murder … and occasional romance.

Infamous Imposters in History

Some people slip into a new identity as easy as slipping into a new pair of shoes. And history is full of these imposters, who attempt to be someone else for power, money or just for fun. Host Simon Whistler features 10 such imposters in this episode of Top Tenz.

Tyrants Beloved By Their People

Why do people follow tyrants? An effective tyrant recognizes and responds to many fundamental human desires, and presents himself/herself as a parental figure, caring for an entire nation. Although many tyrants transgressed legal boundaries, they remained wildly popular and beloved among their people. Host Simon Whistler features 10 such leaders in this episode of Top Tenz.

Canada is Just Plain Weird

Canada is the second biggest country by land mass, with a diverse landscape of mountains, plains and the most fresh-water lakes in the world. Still, there are some things about our northern neighbor that the rest of the world finds just plain weird.

Take the sale of milk in Canada, which is sold in bags! The bags are then placed in milk-bag holders with their corners snipped off, which apparently makes it easier to pour. Now this is just plain weird. Host Simon Whistler entertains us with some other weird stuff that goes on up north in this episode of Top Tenz. Enjoy, eh!

The Real First President

American textbooks taught us that George Washington was the first president of the United States, but they fail to mention an important detail. Washington, of course, was our nation’s first president under the U.S. Constitution.

But before the supreme law came into being, our young country was bound together by the Articles of Confederation. During this period, eight presidents served our fledgling country ahead of  Washington, beginning with John Hanson of Maryland. Simon Whistler unravels the details and tells us about the real first president of the United States on Today I Found Out.

Urban Time Travel Legends

There’s abundant research in math and quantum physics to suggest that our universe may be mirrored infinitely, and that there are not only many versions of our solar system but also many versions of ourselves. And, of course, there are ample legends of visitors and accidental travel into other dimensions. Host Simon Whistler looks into the more notable stories in this edition of Top Tenz.

Mysterious Mass Animal Deaths

One of the most troubling events on our planet is when a large group of animals die at once. While some of these mass die-offs can usually be attributed to a specific cause, there are a few where there is no clear culprit. And the frightening aspect of these events are the consequences it has on the world’s delicate ecosystem. Host Simon Whistler brings us the 10 most mysterious and troubling mass animal deaths in recent history in this edition of Top Tenz.
