Special Rules For White People
If white people plan on visiting the new George Floyd Memorial in Minneapolis, they will be mandated to follow “special rules.” The area is called George Floyd Square: A Sacred Space for Community, Public Grief and Protest.
In case Minnesotans haven’t noticed, “community” = all Americans! Makes you wonder about all the gobbledygook about systemic racism that has mesmerized the country. I guess it only applies to one side of the equation here, damn the rest of us. Next New Network’s Elijah Shaffer offers a case in point with special rule No. 1: “Decenter yourself and come to listen, learn mourn and witness.” Be careful, whities, behave or suffer the consequences.
Then there’s the equally racist rule No. 5: “If you witness white people doing problematic things, speak up with compassion to take the burden off black folks and our siblings of color, whenever appropriate.” Hmm, problematic things. You mean like rioting and looting, and destroying minority neighborhoods?
To no one’s surprise, George Floyd Square has been turned into an autonomous zone, using concrete barriers from last summer’s unrest, bringing record levels of crime and gun violence to the neighborhood. What civil servant moron thought of this solution? Here’s more on the hyprocrisy with Shaffer.
