The court ruled that President Donald Trump can’t use the National Guard as the chief line of defense to uphold the Insurrection Act. Instead, it’s the role of the U.S. military to uphold the act. So Army soldiers or the Marine Corps can be sent, with the National Guard providing supporting roles.
