Kirk Prosecutors Under Fire
Attorneys for Tyler Robinson, the alleged Charlie Kirk assassin, are calling for Robinson’s prosecutors to be disqualified. The defense attorneys presented their arguments Friday before Utah Judge Tony Graf, saying a conflict of interest rules out the Utah County Attorney’s Office from proceeding with the case.
If Graf agrees with that opinionm, the Utah state Attorney General’s office would take over the prosecution. It’s not clear how quickly Graf will decide one way or the other, but most court watchers expect a decision over the next couple of weeks.
A change in the prosecutorial team would drag out the case, as the new team would essentially have to start over again. The conflict of interest complaint is based upon the fact that an 18-year-old child of one of the prosecutors was present at the September 10th event at Utah Valley University during which Kirk was killed.
