Nature’s Master Impressionist

The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder, including the amazing Lyre bird, the animal kingdom’s master impressionist. The Lyre’s routine is disciplined, first clearing space in the forest to salvage his concert platform, then beginning his symphony of song to attract females. The Lyre can imitate the calls of at least 20 different species. In addition, he incorporates other sounds in the forest to outdo his rivals, such as the click of a camera shutter, the sound of a camera with a motor drive and, astoundingly, the buzz of a busy chainsaw. Here’s more from BBC Earth.

Animals You’ve Never Heard Of

The monkey with blue skin and no nose is native to China only. One of the rarest monkeys on the planet, this odd creature is a master of communication, using its body language and 18 different calls. The monkeys are also accomplished ventriloquists, screaming some calls without moving their mouths. This is just one of five animals you’ve probably never seen or heard of as featured in this episode of BBC Earth.
