Education Department “Con Job”
President Donald Trump discusses his rationale behind closing the federal Department of Education. He calls it a “con job” agency and says it ought to be “closed immediately.”
Under his plan, each state would oversee its own public schools, or states could even cede the schools over to local county or regional agencies.
Trump says the United States now ranks dead-last — 40th out of 40 nations — in maintaining high-quality educational standards.
