Jobs are being lost, deep fakes are flooding the internet, and bot armies are influencing public opinion on a massive scale. These are not small adjustments to our daily lives. They are fundamental shifts in how society functions, and most people have barely begun to grasp what they mean.
We discuss the dangers of AI being weaponized to create new systems of control, including facial recognition, surveillance, and the potential for social credit scoring modeled after authoritarian regimes. Chaz highlights that many of the very engineers building these systems are now sounding alarms, warning that the consequences may be beyond anyone’s ability to stop once certain thresholds are crossed.
