Who are Zohran Mamdani’s followers? Turns out a big chunk of them are trust funders, from extremely wealthy families, who simply don’t want to pay rents or work regular jobs. These are what you call Champagne Socialists.
Take Tracy Rosenthal. She’s the daughter of four-time Grammy winner Steve Rosenthal, who recorded the likes of the Ramones and David Bowie. But Tracy isn’t an exceptional recording engineer, just an agitator. She’s the author of the book Abolish Rent: How Tenants Can End The Housing Crisis.
She’s living in a posh Bed-Stuy apartment and hasn’t paid the rent in years, having withheld more than $100,000. She got other tenants to do the same, leading the owner to lose the property, Now, the bank is trying to evict her and the rest of the deadbeats. Here’s more from the Liberal Hivemind.
