U.S. Admits: Weapons In Space
For the first time, the United States has publicly acknowledged that it has weapons deployed in orbit. Air Force Secretary Troy Meink says the U.S. now possesses what he called “on-orbit space control weapons” capable of defending American forces against hostile action.
But when asked exactly what those weapons are capable of doing, Meink wouldn’t say. Can they jam enemy satellites? Disable them? Interfere with communications? Physically destroy another spacecraft?
For now, those capabilities remain classified. Ben Swann notes that the phrase “space weapon” encompasses systems ranging from reversible electronic interference to potentially destructive anti-satellite capabilities.
