The Plot Thickens
If you think you’ve heard it all, wait until you wade into Webster Griffin Tarpley’s conspiracy theories regarding the crappy B-movie on YouTube that supposedly transformed thousands of Muslims around the globe into violent film critics. Tarpley claims the movie, Innocence of the Muslims, is the handiwork of a cabal of provocateurs who want to see Mitt Romney elected. Besides a high-placed “Mormon Mafia” within the CIA, Tarpley also fingers the Israeli and Saudi governments, various Christian and pro-Israeli activists within the US, and even Atlas Shrugs blogger Pamela Geller and former United Nations ambassador John Bolton.
Who is Tarpley? A certified nutball, formerly associated with convicted felon Lyndon H. LaRouche, and known for fabricating crazy conspiracies behind all kinds of world events. He was one of the first of the “Truthers,” those who asserted 9-11 was an inside job perpetrated not by Islamic radicals, but by deep moles within the US military-industrial complex. He has attacked the Dalai Lama as a CIA stooge. He also advanced the crackpot notion that Prescott Bush got rich through his financial dealings with the Third Reich.
Needless to say, Tarpley is a Democrat. True, he operates on the lunatic fringe of that party, but that hasn’t dissuaded Iran’s Press TV from granting him frequent broadcast appearances as an expert geopolitical analyst.
