Carl Benjamin says the dire statistics even drew the attention of Elon Musk, who said he thinks the biggest problem the world will face in 20 years is population collapse. Benjamin reports that the issue is something that needs to be addressed sooner, rather than later on a civilizational level.
Benjamin says that to maintain a stable population, a country needs to maintain a fertility rate of 2.1 children per woman, a number that fallen off precipitously in most European countries.
