Preparing For What?

What happens if the power goes out for months and the supply chains snap?

The Pentagon is now preparing for exactly that. Under its FORTRESS initiative, every major U.S. military base in the continental United States must be ready to keep running for at least 90 days with no outside help—generating its own power, securing water and fuel, and maintaining communications even if the civilian grid collapses. Officials put it bluntly: “Power is combat now.”

The same week, other countries pushed their own readiness messages. Britain’s new “Be Ready” campaign tells households to keep three days of food, water, cash, and a radio on hand for weather events, cyberattacks, or other disruptions.

Japan is preparing a nationwide appeal urging families to stockpile at least three days—ideally a week—of food, water, and sanitation supplies ahead of major earthquakes and disasters.

Different scales, same underlying question: How long can we last when the systems we depend on fail? Do world leaders know something or is this preparation a ‘just in case,’ scenario? Join Ben & Rob on this Edge of Wonder live show as they take a look into this worrying topic. At the end of the show, don’t miss the live Q&A followed by meditation/prayer.
