Is Pulte A Stalking Horse?
President Donald Trump has announced William Pulte as the acting successor to Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. In that capacity he would oversee 17 different national intelligence agencies, among them the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Pulte is the existing chief of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and will keep that post.
This suggests he might actually be a stalking horse, meant to gauge opinions and draw out Senate opposition ahead of the true appointee to follow. In this case, the speculation focuses on Devin Nunes, now head of Trump’s Truth SocialĀ and the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee from 2015 to 2019. Here, Chris Yoon lays out various prospects and possibilities.
