Al-Qaeda Leader Killed in Africa
As French and African forces continue to battle Islamist militants in northern Mali, the president of Chad has confirmed that troops have killed a top leader of a local branch of al-Qaeda. The militant, Abdelhamid Abou Zeid, was the second-in-command of al-Qaeda in the Maghreb.
