Iranian Moderate or Wolf?

New reports on Iranian’s president-elect Hasan Rouhani have cast doubt on the “moderate” label he has been given by much of the international media. The London based pan-Arab daily newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat has revealed that Rouhani’s son committed suicide over his father’s close ties to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Crackdown in Turkey

Chaos, violence and anti-government anger continue on the streets of Turkey as protesters to defy the prime minister’s demand to pack up and go home. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned protesters that he will ‘not show any more tolerance’ for them while the streets of Istanbul continue to look more like scenes from a civil war. Ayatollahs Rule Out Women

With Iran’s presidential elections set for June 14, Mohammad Yazdi, a clerical member of the Guardian Council — Iran’s constitutional watchdog — has said the constitution rules out women being presidential candidates. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current, two-term president of Iran, also is forbidden to run for a third term, but is advancing the candidacy of one of his aides. More from JewishNewsOne.

Al-Qaeda Leader Killed in Africa

As French and African forces continue to battle Islamist militants in northern Mali, the president of Chad has confirmed that troops have killed a top leader of a local branch of al-Qaeda. The militant, Abdelhamid Abou Zeid, was the second-in-command of al-Qaeda in the Maghreb. He is accused of killing several Western hostages, including Edwin Dyer from the United Kingdom and Michel Germaneau from France. More from JewishNewsOne.
