Steel Is National Security

President Donald Trump has announced a new $15 billion steel plant being built in Iowa. The Mesabi Metallic plant in Lee County, a rural area in southeastern Iowa, will be the largest steel plant in the United States. The plant is scheduled to open in 2030 and use ore mined in Minnesota, and ferried down the Mississippi River to Iowa.

This follows announcement of expansion of the existing  Cleveland-Cliffs steel plant in Middletown, Ohio. Steel production is extremely vital to national security.  The United States had allowed its steel plants to go belly up with production moving mostly to Communist China. But now there is a renewed interest in strategic minerals as well as steel.

The Covid evil has been exposed again. In hearings Monday hosted by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin,  senators learned of how hospitals failed to administer proper care during the pandemic. Johnson claimed leaders used the pandemic to “gain undue power and control over our response to COVID.” He apologized to those who lost someone to “cruel” hospital policies. Bessent’s Finances: No More Bull

As headlines warn of a $40 trillion U.S. debt and a “bond market explosion,” Barbara Boyd argues a manufactured financial panic is being used to attack President Donald Trump ahead of the midterms. She spotlights Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s “discreet” plan—echoed by Vice President JD Vance—to get economic growth to outpace debt by directing credit into productive investment rather than speculation or consumer handouts.

Boyd frames the approach as an updated Alexander Hamilton model: Sovereign credit for infrastructure, technology, and industry to expand real output and contain inflation, while curbing Wall Street and Fed-driven speculation. She cites Bessent’s focus on domestic production and supply chains and highlights executive-order priorities including advanced manufacturing, nuclear and fusion power, a Moon colony by 2028, and breakthrough science.

The episode also features Vance’s critique of free-trade policies, “deaths of despair,” and a $1B Cleveland-Cliffs investment in Middletown, Ohio. Here’s more from a new episode of Promethean Updates.
