What Will Recovery Look Like?
Many Americans are conflating the COVID-19 pandemic and the country’s subsequent shutdown to the Great Depression. Not so fast, says Larry Kudlow, director of the U.S. National Economic Council. Kudlow says today’s economic woes are completely different from the Great Depression, where enormous policy mistakes were made that brought the economy tumbling down. Our current economic reversal is the function of the COVID-19 virus and the mitigation attempts, which unfortunately will go on for a while, he says. But there are some glimmers of hope.
