The Black Death: Worst Ever

Pandemics and diseases have been a constant companion of humanity for millenia. Though rare, they are tremendously destructive. Perhaps the most devastating in human history was The Black Death, a devastating global epidemic of bubonic plague that struck Europe in October 1347. Eerily similar to today’s COVID-19 pandemic, The Black Death originated in the then tiny province of Hubei, around Wuhan, China. In the following five years, it spread rapidly over the “Silk Road” and other trade routes through Asia and into Europe, ravaging the area. During this period, the pandemic killed as much as 60 percent of the European continent and it is believed that some 200 million people perished throughout EurAsia, approximately 42 percent of the human population at the time. Here’s more on the devastation from Real Life Lore.

Next Two Weeks Are Critical

While China remains largely in lockdown, covid-19 cases in the rest of the world are at a key juncture. To date, confirmed cases have been lower than feared. Though increasingly, we’re suspecting that’s due to inadequate testing and reporting. And the cases we *do* know of (now at ~1,000) appear to be growing at an exponential rate.

So the next two weeks will be critical in telling the tale. We’ll soon know whether the spread is indeed slower than initially feared, or we’ll start to see huge increases in the number of infected ex-China. Meanwhile, the authorities around the world, including the WHO and CDC, continue to downplay the threat.

But at the same time, governments are busy mobilizing massive containment efforts. Their words do not match their actions. Is there more we’re not being told? As we’ve said, time will soon tell. Keep up your efforts to remain informed, as good information is scarce right now. More from Chris Martenson.

We’re now looking at more than 75,000 cases of coronavirus infection. The Hubei Hospital Director Liu Zhiming has died, showing just how difficult it is to contain the spread of the virus. There are two new cases in South Korea, neither of them individuals who had traveled to China. So the coronavirus will now begin its run directly within South Korea. More from Styxhexenhammer666.
