Another High-Level Purge

Chris Chappell reports that under Xi Jinping, China has purged millions of low- and high-level officials from the government and the Chinese Communist Party. And now he’s taken down another one—Evergrande found Hui Ka Yan.

Chappell says this comes almost two years after Evergrande, which was arguably China’s largest property developer, started defaulting on its debts. In this episode of China Uncensored, Chapell looks at why Xi might have gone after Hui Ka Yan now, how Evergrande’s fall kicked off a housing market meltdown and how this purge could be related to Xi’s arch nemesis Jiang Zemin.

Xi Jinping Holds Onto Power

Xi Jinping took a major step toward extending his official position as the head of the Chinese Communist Party, basically rewriting history in his image.

China Uncensored’s Chris Chappell says the daring move pretty much cemented Jinping’s power over the party. This marks only the third time that CCP history has been rewritten in its 100 years of existence. Jinping’s move struck a huge blow to former CCP leader Jiang Zemin’s faction. Chappell explains drama further.

CCP Final Showdown

The final showdown is under way in Beijing, where Xi Jinping faces a life and death power struggle with former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and it’s coming to a head.

The two leaders have been at each other’s throats since Jinping took power in 2003, Fact is, Jiang left, but never really relinquished power. Now factional infighting in China’s Communist Party is heating up ahead of a major meeting next year, which will decide whether Xi stays in command for a third term. Here’s more with Chris Chappell on China Uncensored.
